Because of the increasing demands from social production to grid,the development needs of grid,application of embedded and communication technology in the power system,the smart grid has became the main direction of the power system technology development.As an important part of the smart grid,digital substation have the characteristic of digital high-voltage device and networking controlling and measuring device.As the key equipment of the digital substation process layer,electronic transformer provide useful signal for protecting and monitoring unit and have a very important position.Currently, due to the long-running reliability of electronic transformer is inadequate,many electronic transformers can’t apply in the engineering.And the energy supply failure has gradually became the key fault of the active electronic current transformer.In this paper,the studies for the energy supply failure of the active electronic current transformer as following:Firstly, from the perspective of the reliability, energy supply system has been studied to calculate the reliability of each part of the supply system and found that the laser is the main reason for the high failure rate of the energy supply system,this can actually consistent with the project. On this basis, the research showed that if the energy laser’life can be assessed, it not only can effectively reduce the failure rate of energy supply system,but also to maximize the working life of the laser and reduce operation and maintenance costs.This can promote the application of electronic transformer engineering applications.Secondly, an online monitoring and diagnostic analysis methods of lasers have been studied to achieve the life assessment of lasers. In this method,combined diagnostic analysis,the supply current of merging unit has been monitored to achieve the life assessment of lasers.This method has the advantage of practicability.Finally,the corresponding on-line monitoring system has been designed and tested in the laboratory.The results shows that:the on-line monitoring system can reliably identify the laser working condition from a real merging unit,and has high precision.So the on-line monitoring system meet demand.
