With the rapid development of automobile industry, the demand of automobile engine is increasing. Crankshaft, as one of the key parts of the engine, its processing technology has also been a substantial increase. For the crankshaft processing technologies nowadays, great progress of numerical control technology lead to the great leap of the crankshaft processing in accuracy, efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection. But in the high-grade crankshaft NC machining field at present, market share has been monopolized by foreign manufacturers. Developing the crankshaft CNC machine tools and researching on high precision machining process for crankshaft are pressing matters of the moment for filling the gap to processing technology of the key parts of the engine in our country.Therefore, this paper attempts at researching the key technologies of crankshaft NC machining and the developing of CNC system for crankshaft grinding machine based on systematic research of the basic function and operation process of HNC-8 CNC system. On the basis of in-depth understanding of HNC-8 CNC Crankshaft Grinder Control System Architecture and functional requirements, we begin the further development for crankshaft grinding machine in aspects of the technical requirements for crankshaft grinding processing the demand of human-computer interaction.According to the basic requirements of crankshaft grinder movement, we developed the processing parameter setting interface and realized the function of displaying parameters in the way of tree and list; realized the function of modifying, saving, loading and selecting of processing parameters and the function of power preservation; realized the function of automatic generation and exporting of G code according to the requirements of the development of crankshaft grinding machine at the same time; finally, we wrote PLC Program in response to M code to achieve the function of auxiliary processing; according to the real-time processing requirements of crankshaft grinder, we also developed interface of the crankshaft machining processing parameters and the data sampling and monitoring interface, and realized the function of the data saving; According to the requirement of processing technology of high speed and high precision, we realized the optimization of crankshaft machining contour using three B spline curve fitting and parameter optimization and segmentation, and laid the solid foundation of intelligent application of the grinding CNC system for crankshaft.
