The live working is used more and more widely for maintenance and testing of Distribution Network. Safety is the most important about the live working. And the performance of insulation appliance determines the safety of staff. Their performance has to be tested. Insulation blanket is one of the supplymentary insulation tools. But the detection means can’t meet the needs of the insulation blanket at now. Test efficiency is very low. It will lead to increasing risk of live working. Research about insulation blanket detection system of live working in Distribution Network is a necessary task. I take apart in the related project as a trainee in China Electric Power Research Institute Wuhan Branch during the period of graduate studies.In this paper, insulation blanket testing is reasearched carefully and designs the hardware and the software of the whole detection system. In this paper, STM32F103RBT6 produced by ST which is used as system control chip, and write the control software with official firmware. STM32 receives the location signal of the photoelectrics switch, and then controls the Stepping Motors. In addition to the control of the mechanical platform, I designed circuit of switching power supply using SG3525, 12 V voltage throught the ignition coil output detecting voltage of 2.5kV and 10 kV. In surface detection, according to the corresponding electric power industry standard, applies 2.5kV voltage on the surface of the insulation blanket that interval of 2cm. Insulation resistance is less than 700M?. The insulation blanket is disqualification. In interlayer detection, 10 kV voltage is applied on both sides of the insulation blanket. If the insulation blanket is punctured, it means defects. What’s more, I simulated and verificated the design of the hardware circuit of switching power supply by Saber. At last, experimental prototype repeated test has been proved. The detection system can improve the insulation blanket detection efficiency effectively.
