With the development of economy, the traffic amount is increasing. Since the requirements for the transport is increasingly going towards high speed and heavy duty, the damage of existing highway and bridges certainly will be more, especially for most of the masonry and concrete arch bridges built during the 50 to 70's of last century. In order to ensure the security and unimpeded pass, it is of great meaning to make scientific assessment to the conditions of existing arch bridges and to provide gist for scientific decision-making of daily maintenance and reinforcement. In allusion to these, there are several tasks of this assay as following:(1) Expounds the methods of bridge carrying capacity evaluation, summarizes the basic principles of bridge technical condition evaluation, through the bridge superstructure, the structure and the deck is a separate score, then combine the different parts in the weight of the whole bridge bridge overall technical grading, and overall technical state grade of the bridge.(2) According to the in-situ test, static load test and theoretical analysis, two existing bridges-the King- head Bridge and Town-head Bridge,in hunan province, bear capacity evaluation, the result is: the King- head Bridge's overall technical condition evaluation of 4 class, Town-head Bridge's overall technical condition evaluation for 3 classes.(3) This two Bridges existing disease has affected the structure of the bridge safety. Based on field investigation and test, this paper puts forward the reinforcement scheme for the King- head Bridge and Town-head Bridge, and maybe provide reference for similar bridge reinforcement.
