With the development of computer and digital communication technology, the scale of power grid in China is increasingly expanding; information degree is continually growing. Smart Grid becomes the current power grid construction direction, which has characteristics of safe, reliable, high quality and efficiency, environmental protection and etc. The transformer substation Implement the power grid monitoring and scheduling trough the acquisition of grid information and the execution of commanding control. Smart Substation, as a key link in the Smart Grid construction, which developed from the digital substation.Smart substation applies advanced digital technology, network communication technology, electronic technology to implement the information acquisition, measurement, protection, control and metering functions, additionally support real-time control, advanced automatic adjustment etc. Smart substation including the station control level, bay level and process level, which possess the characteristics of information digitalization, communication platform networking, information sharing standardization, primary equipment Intellectualization and etc.This thesis firstly introduces the development status of smart grid, the role of smart substation plays in smart grid construction. Describe the concept, technical features of smart substation, and introduces the status and development of application research domestic and abroad. Secondly, compared with the traditional integrated substation, detailed describe the system structure and features of smart substation. Focus on the key technology of smart substation:electronic instrument transformer and IEC 61850. Analyzes the working principle of electronic instrument transformer, comparatively study the performance and application of various kinds of electronic transformer, and analyzes the IEC 61850 role in the smart substation. Finally, this paper studies Smart substation engineering examples in Handan, and summarizes the implementation situation, discuss the exposure of intelligent substation operation problems, and further explore the future development trend of smart substation.
