In order to adapt to the fierce environment of competition, improve productivity and shorten the development cycle, many enterprises and researchers have analyzed and studied the CAD rapid design technology, PDM technology and CAD/PDM integrated technology.Under this background, a software system, which can be applied into product development, is formed by combining the CAD rapid product design technology based on Creo Parametric with the technology of product data management(PDM) and configuration. In order to optimize the traditional product design flow, the product system and business process of CAD/PDM system integration is proposed to integrate digital and informationalized computer technology into the process of product design through building the functional model of CAD/PDM integrated system.Secondary development was conducted on Creo TOOLKIT through Visual C platform. Firstly, the user menu and dialog box of gear reducer were designed, thus establishing a friendly and convenient interaction platform. Secondly, the parameterized rapid design functions of components were designed, making it possible to directly generate three-dimensional model by inputting major parameters. Finally, automatic assembly function was designed in the CAD system module of gear reducer, achieving the automatic assembly of gear reducer parts.In the study, the model library of gear reducer, along with the case library of standard and custom-made pieces of gear reducer parts, was established, thus making it convenient for users to design products. In addition, rule-based configuration design on the model of reducer product family was carried out, in accordance with the acquisition of knowledge on product family model and the establishment of product family model BOM.By studying the knowledge acquisition and expression of gear reducer examples as well as the inference and solution of configuration design, solving model on configuration design of reducer examples was established. According to design requirements and the computed results of major parameters, matching configuration unit meeting the requirements was selected for each reducer prototype unit. Besides, based on genetic algorithms, efforts were made to solve the solving algorithm system established to optimize the value coefficient, quality level and reliability. Finally, the correctness and practicality of the model and configuration solving methods were verified with examples.Based on this, with Creo Parametric as the secondary development platform, by applying Creo Toolkit as the program interface of secondary development, and using Access 2010 as the basic database and ADO and FTP technology as the means of data interaction with PDM system, this paper develops a CAD/PDM integrated application system integrated with Creo software based on Creo Parametric through VC++ programming.In the end, by taking the design of the reducer under some circumstance as the example, it illustrates that this system can shorten the design time, improve the design efficiency and verifies the feasibility of integrated CAD/PDM application system framework based on Creo Parametric and its implementation.
