Single crystal sapphire has excellent optical performance,high resistance to wear,high hardness,high melting point and stable chemical properties.As a result,it is widely used in optoelectronics,defense,aerospace and other areas.With the rapid development of science and technology,higher demands on the processing efficiency and the surface quality of sapphire have been made.To solve technical problems of original long processing cycle and failing to process large size sapphire,gantry sawing machine slicing sapphire is designed in this paper.The main contents are as follows:1.Firstly,with the requirement of the sapphire crystal slicing and analysis of gantry sawing machine processing,rational processing method and the cutting parameters have been chosen.Then the movement of sawing machine components was distributed,key transmission mechanisms were designed and load-bearing structure form with double columns was selected.Finally,the overall layout was finished and the core working principle was explained.2.The paper has analysed static and dynamic characteristics,stability and thermal-stress coupling characteristics of the diamond circular saw blade.The results show that stress meets the strength requirement of the material and no resonance during production.The critical load of the blade was calculated in nonlinear buckling analysis.Based on the thermal-stress analysis,tension is unnecessary to most region of the blade.Besides,utilization of the blade materials was maximized by Topology optimization.3.The paper has analysed static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle system based on finite element software.Large stress is concentrated in blade cutting teeth.The other is mainly in the blade and the pulley installation position of the spindle.Meanwhile the diamond circular saw blade is the most susceptible tovibration in the system.Besides,because of the spindle box structure redundancy,the paper has optimized its structure parameters to minimize the total quality on the basis of meeting the demand of stiffness and strength.After the optimization,the spindle box quality was reduced by 16.01%.The goal of lightweight design is achieved.4.After the finite element analysis,the spindle was optimized in matlab multi-objective optimization function.The objective is to minimize deflection of extended position and quality in the condition of the allowable bending and torsional stiffness.Finally,the spindle model was updated by the new parameters.The result shows the static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle is better after optimization.
