As the main component of the car, the gearbox shifts the engine's output torque and speed to the desired torque and speed by different gear combinations, which gets different power outputs.In the mechanical transmission of the car, gear is the most important component of its mechanical properties, not only affects the life of the transmission, but also determines its NVH(Noise, Vibration and Harshness) properties. For the fault of the mechanical transmission, the main fault in the low speed gears and the main reduction gears are pitting corrosion and broken teeth; the main fault in the high speed gears are NVH properties.For the low speed gears, to meet the requirements of gear ratio, technical process, transmission stability, optimization goal is the maximum bearing capacity; for the high speed gears, to meet the requirements of gear ratio, technical process, bearing capacity, optimization goal is the coincidence degree of important parameters to determine the transmission stability. This paper solves the optimization model by using the MATLAB software, and obtains the gear parameters after optimization. According to the gear parameters after optimization and before, the paper builds the model of the mechanical transmission by using the Romax software, and then the model is analyzed, including finite element analysis and driving error analysis. Comparing the results of the optimization, this paper applies the gear parameters after optimization to the actual application. The results of the optimization are verified in practice.The gear performance after optimization is significantly better than before. It proved that the optimization is feasible in the design of mechanical transmission gear. This paper successfully achieves the optimization of mechanical transmission, provides the mechanical transmission with better performance. It can shorten the design cycle, reduce design cost. It has an important signification to the development of mechanical transmission.
