Bridge is throat of highway system, and it would cause break down of transportation if damaged or collapsed, limiting capacity of highway. Overloaded vehicles bring about magnificent impair to bridges and consequently calculation of overloaded vehicular effect and resistance of bridges should be launched before their pass to determine a safe and economic route. In this case, it is of great significance to build up a safe, reliable, user-friendly and practical methodology of route optimization. This paper focused on 3 aspects:(1) Based on reliability index theory, this paper assesses permits of overloaded vehicles passing one of highway network in Guangxi Autonomous Region under capacity limit state and operating limit state, namely, this paper compares the reliability indexes of bridges under overloaded vehicular load with minimum permit.(2) This paper introduces two estimations of ineffectiveness probability to calculate the reliability of network link : based on series, parallel, multiple-series; and based on event tree. The methodology of route optimization is proposed on the basis of venture analysis.(3) A linear regression model of 5-axle and 6-axle truck in Guangxi Autonomous Region and reliability of network is established based on a certain highway network. By introducing venture theory, this paper estimates the expenses of overloaded vehicles passing various routes and determines the optimal route in security and economy level. Also, over this process, the provision of optimizing route of overloaded vehicles is roughly generated.
