| With the rapid development of the city, land resources are more precious for people around the world, which promotes the widespread use of high-rise buildings. Today, high-rise buildings tend to have varied shape. Their appearance makes structural design more difficult. In south China, an I-shaped plan will be usually used for a high-rise residential building, causing problems like slim waist shape and torsional irregularity. Since, the seismic resistant design of the structure of this kind of high-rise buildings is getting more complicated, especially for those in high seismic zone.Performance based seismic design (PBSD) is the most advanced seismic design method using for analyzing and studying the seismic performances of building structure. By using this method, a seismic design with specific multiple quantitative targets, rather than the one with macro qualitative targets, may be gotten. Owners and designers can chose the performance objective they needed. Different performance objective and seismic measure can be easily obtained, according to different seismic resistance requirements, site conditions and the importance of the building. Nowadays in China, the PBSD method is required to be used for the structural design of a complex high-rise building or an out-of-codes high-rise building. In this paper, a typical high-rise residential building with I-shaped plan, popularly used in Haikou-Fucheng districts, is chosen to be the study target. A typical analysis model is firstly obtained, by refining and simplifying the selected structural scheme. Then, the seismic performances of the structure are evaluated with PBSD method, by respectively using such structural analysis software as YJK, ETABS, PUSH&EPDA. The main conclusions obtained in this paper are the following:(1) Chosing the lateral stiffness and the torsional rigidity as the controlling objectives, it is studied that the effects of differently in-plan-located wall limbs of a shear-wall structure on its seismic performance. Proportional contribution of each shear wall limb to the overall seismic performance is obtained, and some rules of the layout of shear walls are gotten;(2) With a practical engineering project, it is thoroughly introduced and analyzed in the paper that the basic processes of methods, operational processes, and difficult issue of the PBSD method when being used to conduct seismic structural design of a high-rise residential building with I-shaped plan;(3) The paper also focuses on the hot issue of the tensile stress control of the concrete in a shear wall limb under the action of an earthquake motion with fortified intensity, which often arising in the seismic design of a shear-wall structure in high seismic intensity zone. It is also given in the paper that the basic concepts of wall pier under tensile and that a simplified checking method and targeted treatment measures. |
