With the development of the world’s traffic engineering, cable-stayed bridgebecame one of the most competitive type. However in the practical application ofengineering, vibration of the stayed cables is one of the most urgent and inevitableproblem. With the measures of change the shape of the surface or connected single cableto each other to form a cable network with higher frequencies, we can avoid sometype of vibrations. These methods destroys the original structure of the stand surfaceaesthetics, so it seldom used in practice. To provide a mechanical damper between the deck and cable has been widelyapplied to suppress the vibration of the cable, however the damper was blockedlower place of the cable stays. The effic iency of mechanical damper was impossibleto achieve as much as the theoretical expected. Semi-active control method withMR damper provides a refresh solution to solve this problem. The main contents are below:(1) Outlined various methods of relieving vibration of stayed cables, thenselect an appropriate type to study. Using the selected models to simulate withoutcontrol, then got characteristics under different conditions. Through the analysis ofsimulation results, select the appropriate condition carried on control of vortexinduced vibration of cables.(2) Simulated about passive control of the vortex induced vibration of stayedcables by equations of motion and state. Through analysis, drew the passive controleffect of the vortex induced vibration of stayed cables.(3) Simulated about active control of the vortex induced vibration of stayedcables. Through analysis, drew the active control effect of the vortex inducedvibration of cable stayed bridge.(4) Referring to target from active control of vortex-induced of stayed cables, using semi-active control algorithm such as Bang-Bang to simulate about the vortexinduced vibration of stayed cables.
