From the mid-19th century to the early20th century, modern China takes thechance of port opening and begins the process of social transformation actively orpassively. In this period, chinese traditional living morphology developed intoadaptive Li housing morphology under the strong invasion of Western culture. Hereevolved Li-Yuan housing morphology of daowai district of Harbin on the base ofthis macro background and social structure. The particular living morphology,which produced in a specific context, can not only adapt to local climatic conditions,but also reflect recent culture trend. Meanwhile, it is also the reflection of value andpracticality of Western culture implanting in Chinese traditional living.This article describes living morphology about two main aspects from theviewpoint of morphology: One is external representation on specific level, the otheris inherent evolution logic on abstract level. Thereinto, the first part of articlemainly starting from the definition of living morphology, combined with the actualresearch, setting out two aspects, living space form of entity morphology and livinglife style of non-entity morphology, tries to expound related structural elementsfrom concrete to abstract, and to summarize basic characteristics of Li-Yuan. Thesecond part tries to explore the internal logic relationship of Li-Yuan formation,mainly involved two aspects about natural and cultural, the living morphology ofLi-Yuan on natural adaptation reflectes on three aspects, group layout form onmacro level, micro climate space organization on middle level and detail nodeprocessing on micro level; Meanwhile, cultural infiltration mainly reflected on threeaspects, form changing, social structure changing and cultural paradigm impacting.As an extension of early-modern Li housing in northeast, Li-Yuan is the mostcommon living form of follows in Daowai district. Furthermore, it is the record ofthe late19th century and early20th century social living state. Based on theconcluding on patterns and logic of living morphology of Li-Yuan, this article triesto figure out the sequence of its intrinsic relationship of living morphologyevolution, in order to further understand the cultural discipline of Li-Housing.
