ABS resin has been widely applied in many fields because of its good mechanical and machinability.However,ABS resin has low heat resistance,which limits its application in automotive components,household appliances,office automation equipment etc.Therefore,the development of heat-resistant ABS resin gradually form an critical subjects in order to improve its heat resistance performance.In this study,a heat-resistant ABS resin can be prepared by replacing St with α-MSt or introducing a heat-resistant monomer NPMI.In addition,a mixed system containing α-MSt and NPMI were build to prepare a high heat-resistant ABS resin.At the same time,the balance between the heat resistance and toughness of heat-resistant ABS resin was investigated.This investigation can be divided into two sections as following:Firstly,a series of PB-g-(α-MSAN)graft copolymers(ABMS graft copolymer)were synthesized by emulsion polymerization,and then mixed with the α-MSt/AN synthesized in the laboratory to prepare heat-resistant ABS resin.The influence of the core/shell ratio of the ABMS graft copolymer and the rubber content of the system on the performance of the ABS resin were studied.The experimental results showed that,with the increase of the core/shell ratio of the ABMS graft copolymer and the increase of the rubber content of the system,the Tg of the high temperature zone of the heat-resistant ABS resin has little change,basically stable at about 133 ℃.Compared with the pure ABS resin,the Tg increased by about 30℃,the VST change trend is consistent with that of the evolution of Tg;On the whole,the heat-resistant ABS resin with a core/shell ratio of 60/40 and a rubber content of 15% has the best mechanical properties and the best thermal stability.It was clearly observed that from the TEM and SEM images rubber particles uniformly dispersed in the matrix of α-MSAN.The good compatibility of ABMS graft copolymer with the matrix of α-MSAN was found.The improve of impact resistance was attributed to the heat-resistant ABS resin with high rubber content was broken from the deep layer.Secondly,we used MSAMI resin(NPMI/α-MSt/AN)to improve the heat resistance of ABS resin.The addition of MSMIA resin obviously improve the heat resistance of ABS resin,in which the Tg of the heat-resistant ABS resin increased with the increase of NPMI content.When w(NPMI)increases to 20%,Tg reached 173℃,the VST change trend is consistent with that of the evolution of Tg.Synthetically,when w(NPMI)was 15%,m(α-MSt)/m(AN)was 69/31,the heat-resistant ABS resin had the best mechanical properties and thermal stability,With the increase of the of NPMI content,the fracture morphology of the heat-resistant ABS resin is smooth.On the macroscopic view,the material changed from toughness to brittleness,and the good compatibility of ABS graft copolymer with the matrix of MSAMI was found.
