Study On The Impact Of Urban Sprawl On Environmental Pollution

Environmental pollution is a major issue in China's new urbanization and sustainable development,and the disorderly expansion of urban growth boundary is also a typical fact that China's urban land is not developed at present.It is very important to explore the spatial distribution pattern and correlation of urban sprawl and spatial pollution,which is of great significance for the accurate identification of high concentration of urban pollution and the future urban land management.Furthermore,it is a new problem and an important subject to clarify the influence mechanism of urban low density sprawl on environmental pollution,and to test empirically the influence of contagion on different pollutants,which can provide the basis for the delineation of the current urban growth boundary,and provide a new perspective and ideas for the systematic project of environmental pollution control.This paper takes into account the lack of relevant research in China,through the establishment of urban sprawl on the theoretical model of environmental pollution,and the mechanism of its spatial analysis.Three kinds of pollutants,such as industrial wastewater,industrial sulfur dioxide and industrial smoke(dust),were selected from the prefecture-level cities as samples.The spatial pattern of these three different pollutants and urban sprawl and correlation analysis.In view of the spatial correlation of research questions,the spatial econometric model is constructed.Finally,In order to test robustness,the model is estimated for the overall sample and the samples from east,middle and west,and the different spatial weight matrix forms are changed and the endogeneity is considered.This study shows the main conclusions:(1)there are spatial clustering characteristics and significant spatial spillover effects of "local club" in environmental pollution,and the spatial correlation of urban sprawl is gradually highlighted;(2)there is a nonlinear relationship between urban sprawl and environmental pollution,and an interaction effect between the labor productivity and the number of private cars on the environmental pollution;(3)the influence of urban sprawl on the pollutants in different regions and different properties is heterogeneous;(4)environmental pollution is subject to a variety of factors "driven" and "suppression".The innovation of this article lies in:(1)Based on the mathematical model and the extension of urban sprawl,this paper expounds the mechanism of the effect of urban sprawl on environmental pollution;(2)Regardless of the traditional panel data in China,the spatial correlation factors are included in this paper,and the spatial econometric model is established to make an empirical analysis.In order to enhance the credibility and persuasion of the conclusion,the robustness of the model results is tested by the sample subdivision,the sensitivity test of the spatial weight matrix and the endogeneity problem.
