At the end of the Second World War,a boom in 1950s is ready to go,everything is full of hope,Dior released the "New Look" in 1947,making people longing for a better life.The fashion industry occupies a pivotal position in the development of the society,and has very broad prospects for development.In the war,out of hundreds of thousands of young women get out of label"Housewife",were sent to work in battlefield or military factory.The women have experienced a variety of hardship and tragedy,and obtained the equality and liberation.But after the war,the concept of fashion is to let them return to the feminine romantic paradigm,chest pad,corset and other elements show the elegant style of a time and set off a wave of fashion.In this historical background,a large number of leading fashion designers emerge.Release in the two quarter every year make the trend change,and bring many choices for the public.The vigorous development of the garment industry and paper pattern company,complete each other with the participation of designers,promote the prosperity of clothing industry.Innovation is fast,but the classic remains.Why we call the women's garment in 1950s classic is that style in 1950s is still in "Retro"attitude to attract a large number of fashion industry attention of researchers,provide a rich source of inspiration for modern fashion design,although design style varies a lot today.On the other hand,the style of pattern produced at that time is popular around the world now,and catch a number of consumers' favor.Owning to the great performance over time of design style mentioned before,we do agree that it's important to do further research on it.In this dissertation,we focus and explore clothing design style and evolvement rule in 1950s.First,we summarized internal and external factors that affect the formation of classic dress style,considering the development of economy,art and technology in this period of time,and explore social repercussions to the trend of fashion after the formation of women's clothing style.Then,we explain the influence and causes of the time variation of the apparel industry,combined with the related literature at home and abroad and collected examples.In such way,we analyze the development of costume design and the whole industry progressively.Then,based on the analysis of graphic data,we concluded that 1950s is not the era of change but that of transition.Finally,we summarize the whole information collected,decompose the clothing in detail by category analysis,replicate 14 sets of clothing as supportive evidence for our analysis.The classic of women's garment in 1950s is of great importance in the history of clothing and fashion,has played a significant role in transition of process of clothing modernization.It not only meets the aesthetic needs of the postwar period,but promote the development of fashion in the future.
