VWheelset is an important component of rolling stock to ensure the normal operation,which not only carries all the body load,but also all the static and dynamic force from the track.The geometry and accuracy of the wheelset tread are crucial to the quality and safety of the locomotive.With the rapid development of train speed and heavy load,the number of failure of wheelsets has been increasing year by year.The workload of wheelset repair is also getting larger and larger,and the requirement is getting higher and higher.The purpose of this paper is to raising the efficiency of wheelset repair and the quality of repair by improving the wheelset cutting tool and the existing wheelset repair technology,so that reduce the cost of wheelset repair.Firstly,various failure modes of the wheelset should be analyzed to know the existing wheelset repair technology according to the reason of the wheelset failure.The causal relationship diagram is used to analyze the various factors affecting the wheelset repair and their causality.The important role of the instrumental factors is determined in the method of improving the wheelset processing efficiency.Then,by analyzing the failure of the carbide tool,the rule of the cutting tool breakage and wear during the process of manufacturing and repairing the wheelset tread is determined.It is concluded that the cutting heat is the main reason to affect the failure of the wheelset cutting tool,the quality of the wheelset repair and the repair efficiency.The temperature field of the cutting tool is determined by establishing the thermal physical model and calculating the heat of cutting by the combination of analytical method and experimental method.The infrared thermal imaging experiment is used to confirm the adequacy of the established temperature field model and cutting heat calculation method.Finally,the existing methods of reducing the cutting temperature of the tool are analyzed.It is proposed that through the tribology method,the wheelset processing tools can be modified reasonably to increase the elastic thermal interface formed by the ceramic polymer materials between the cutting tool and the tool holder,so that increase the real contact area between the cutting tool and the tool holder,significantly increase the heat dissipation efficiency from the tool to the tool holder,reduce the cutting temperature of the tool and improve the wear resistance of the tool.Indirectly it improved the service life of wheelset cutting tools and reduced the repair costs.In order to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method,cutting experiments were carried out on different tools and the temperature field model was established respectively.The temperature field of the tool was compared with the thermal imaging experiment results,which proves the effectiveness of the proposed method.Afterwards,different tool stability tests were conducted in the real environment to confirm the practicality of the improved repair tool.
