Environmental Quality Analysis And Assessment Based On Co-word Network

We live in an era of deteriorating environment.To pursue a good quality of the environment under the common efforts of all mankind is our dream.Thus,it is very necessary to study “what environmental quality is”,“how the global cooperation and action are”,“how the knowledge system of the environmental quality evolve”,“how to solve the defects in environmental quality evaluation method” and then put forward the corresponding improvement measures.For the first time,this paper studies these problems from the perspective of co-word network.The main achievements are as follows:(1)We construct the cooperative network of the countries and calculate the detailed network parameters and degree distribution.The theory and model of the operational metrology have drawn that it is very easy for any countries to cooperate in the global environmental quality cooperation.Led by the United States and China,the whole world participates to solve environmental quality problems by a self-organized way.However,the large slope(α =-3.958)of the distribution curve means that many countries have not fully played their cooperative roles.(2)The connotation of environmental quality has been rigorously verified by the macroscopic distribution of keywords and co-word network made of microcosmic key words.As a measure of the survival and multiplication of mankind and the appropriateness of social and economic development,environmental quality must reflect the specific requirements of mankind,and must accordingly take into account the multiple demands of nature and society;(3)By using the co-word network made of top 100 keywords,we dynamically visualize the evolution of environmental quality,and find the knowledge system of environmental quality system has a small-world effect and scale-free mechanism.The small-world and scale-free effects are the mechanisms to promote the knowledge system of the whole environmental quality to the interdisciplinary themes with current hotspots.This provides guidance for further topic selection and policy management of environmental quality.(4)The current most environmental quality assessment methods have subjective factors in the selection of the indicators,and the establishment of the index system has deficiencies such as without enough theory foundations,the interaction between indicators can not be reflected,and poor operational performance.In this regard,we find that the perspective of co-word network is just a way to solve the above problems.Compared with other models,our method based on the co-word network has a strict theoretical foundation,strong universality,easy operation.More importantly,it can construct the evaluation index system and reveal the mutual relationship among the indexes,and objectively yield the weight of indicators.The model can not only simplify the complex procedures of the environmental quality evaluation to a large extent,but also obtain the reliable evaluation results.
