Friction stitch welding is a new type of solid-state connection technology.The repair work mainly for large cylindrical rocket body,oil and gas pipelines,the jacket structure.It can only be repaired on site once the crack appeared because these large metal component itself is too large and difficult to transport.Therefore the in-situ friction stitch welding machines were designed for machining.Due to various types of repair objects,environment and the task demand,the friction welding machine should be highly adaptable.To solve this problem,the design method of friction stitch welding for in-situ machining was studied.This paper mainly focuses on the construction of open architecture platform,evaluation and optimization of interfaces in friction stitch welding machine and the evaluation and optimization of the module configuration.The design method of friction stitch welding machine based on the idea of open architecture products was detailed introduced.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,based on the task requirement analysis,the construction of the open architecture platform for many kinds of friction welding machine were conducted.The modules were partitioned based on the motion composition of the machine tools.And a lot of product schemes,applied to the needs for a variety of different tasks,have been acquired through the reorganization of the module.Secondly,the function of the interface is analyzed through the function correlation matrix between the modules,and then the interface of the friction welding machine is planned.Using the interface between bed and column as an example,the interface parameters between bed and column was obtained by the method of combination of modal test and finite element software calculation.Comparison of different bolt arrangement schemes on the dynamic performance of the whole machine with the adaptability of each plan,working performance,assembly and economy.can be the criterions.Finally,the optimal scheme of the interface is obtained.Thirdly,The module configuration of the friction stitch welding machine was optimized with the criteria of the product adaptability.The definition of the modules,the selection of the similar sub-modules and the establishment of configuration optimization model were described in detail.And the feasibility of the optimization method is verified by a concrete example.Finally,based on the PDM an open architecture product adaptive design system was construct in order to manage all kinds of modules and rapid optimization of the configuration more convenient and efficient for the friction stitch welding machine apply to the new needs.The main structure of the system,the structure of the database and the function of the system have be elaborated.It shows that the system has an important role in the rapid configuration and shortening the design cycle of the research and development of the new products.
