CNC technology is a base of the advanced manufacturing technology, with a high-level CNC technology, which indicates the industrialization degree and the comprehensive national strength of a country. To realize country's industrialization, it is the only way that a country follows and develops advanced CNC technology. With the progress of computer-based information technology, nowadays, mathematical model which can describe complicated geometry models and manufacturing resources planning has obtained the full applications, which make traditional manufacturing acquire revolutionary advances and make traditional CNC technology dissatisfy with the development of industry. Thus, it is particularly important to develop CNC technology that can adapt to the modern manufacturing, which contribute to the development of Open Architecture CNC. This paper does research to open Architecture of engraving machines by using open Architecture CNC of "PC+ universal interface board" and following principle of reusability, portability, scalability and interoperability. The end goal of paper is realization of dual NC system, namely constructing of new CNC system platform and preserving of the original of the CNC system. The emphasis of study is new CNC, including hardware platform, software framework structures, various algorithm implemented and validation, etc.Firstly, the domestic and overseas development of open architecture CNC system is raised and the structure of "PC+interface board" is discussed in depth. Secondly, the design principle and reconstruct aim is introduced. The whole reconstruct scheme is fulfilled and the hardware is designed, the axis control based on MODBUS protocol is studied. Thirdly, the function and structure of software and development tool are proposed. Fourthly, according to the NURBS curve interpolation arithmetic, the interpolation arithmetic for the open architecture CNC system is studied, and the based on minimum error of NURBS curve interpolation arithmetic is proposed. Fifthly, the hardware debugging,function checking,new function testing is accomplished. Lastly, the conclusion is introduced; the further works and goals are proposed.
