A Discussion And Revelant Factors’ Research Of BRIC Countries’ CO2 Emissions Embodied In International Trade

With the development of economic globalization,international trade has an important influence on climate change.BRIC countries including Brazil,Russia,India and China are becoming the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitter due to their rapid economic growth.In this essay,the author will mainly study the question whether international trade has influence on GHG emission in BRIC countries,and whether BRIC countries are becoming "pollution heaven".In addition,this essay will try to find the differences and reasons between the BRIC countries embodied carbon emission and whether relevant factors have effects on embodied carbon.In this paper,the author will use the input-output method to study the problem of carbon embodied in the BRIC countries’ foreign trade.Through studying the change on BRIC countries’embodied carbon from 1995 to 2014,the author will check whether the BRIC countries have become "pollution heaven".Next,the author will analyze the situation of energy consumption structure and trade structure of BRIC countries.In the end,the author will give an empirical analysis on whether relevant factors have effects on embodied carbon and come up with some advices.The study found that Brazil doesn’t become the "pollution heaven" in the last twenty years.Russia and China have been net exporters of embodied carbon,and they have undertaken a large amount of carbon emissions for other countries and become "pollution heaven",while India has transferred a lot of carbon emissions to other countries.In the empirical analysis the author draws a conclusion that national trade,trade structure,and embodied carbon emission coefficient have great influence on BRIC countries’ embodied carbon emissions.Therefore,the BRIC countries should learn from each other and establish a cooperation mechanism.China should increase scientific funds investment,improve technical innovation ability,improve energy consumption structure.Furthermore,China should also develop low carbon industry and service industry and make some adjustment in foreign trade with developing countries.According to the conclusion of this article,China has undertaken embodied carbon emission for other countries,therefore,China can argue with developed countries and get the largest interests in terms of carbon tariff.
