Application Research On Traditional Graphic In Modern Chinese Furniture

Ancient Chinese traditional graphic has a deep sense of mystery and luck,used to be applied in the decoration of furniture mainly on the basis of auspicious patterns of animals,plants or abstract symbols.The modern Chinese furniture has been decorated by the repeated fussy patterns in the past time,but copying the past won't bring the development on the innovation of design just based on the traditional graphic features though it might be the best shortcut of modern designers.In such case,the research on the characteristic of Chinese traditional graphic and its application on the modern furniture are of crucial importance in helping modern Chinese furniture advance towards the world with its traditional charm and modern style.This essay analyzes the historical course of traditional graphic,its characteristic,classification and auspicious meaning based on the literature and intensive studies.Firstly,the studies focus on the application of traditional graphic on ancient furniture,including the furniture parts applying the graphic,decoration method and basic form of graphic.Secondly,analyses and research have been done through visits and interviews with some furniture marketplaces to collect large number of classical graphics applied in modern Chinese furniture,the status of traditional graphic application on modern Chinese furniture has been induced,summarized,in combination with the aesthetic taste of modern humans,to explore the new method and new idea of traditional graphic application on modern Chinese furniture,including the application of heterogeneous graphics,auspicious graphics,color and new material.This essay expands the study from technics domain to explore the implementation methods of different technics for traditional graphic application on modern Chinese furniture;from material application domain to seek for the comfortable sensation brought by modern Chinese furniture;from formal beauty domain to detect the combined application of all kind components with traditional elements.The author tries to offer a comprehensive and innovative perspective on the traditional graphic application in modern Chinese furniture which could be used in the field of modern Chinese furniture design.Finally,the author is developing the practical design of modern Chinese furniture based on the research production in early stage,to demonstrate the rationality and feasibility of this essay.
