The Design Research And Innovation On Needle Felting In Fashion And Textile Design

Wool felt has a long history,it is once to be used in protecting against the wet and cold.But now as a popular crafts,it makes a comeback in people's lives.Felt has a good plasticity in construction,it not only can be used in fiber art,also caused the attention from fashion designers'.In the modern fashion design,wool is not stay on the traditional form of woven,knitted.After consulting a lot of documents and design cases,needlefelting process is gradually being designers use in clothing design.Starting from the angel of sustainable design,it introduced the research significance and then comes the innovation of design.Through the analysis and summary of the application examples of the design by needle-felting,found the influence of the fabric on the styling.In this paper,the design method of the use of needle –felting in the pattern,and the combination of the two processing technology of the needle felt and the common fabric,proposed to create new composite fabric.This paper is divided into five parts: firstly,give a brief review of the history of wool and its long before humans in the application;the second part introduces the common materials which would be taken in the felting,the concept and form of needle-felting and some production techniques;the third part analyzes the reason and feasibility of needle-felting used in fabric design,put forward the design principle accords with modern aesthetic needs;the fourth part focused on design practice and innovate combined with different creative thinking from the needle-felting in fashion design;the fifth part shows several combination of fabric reconstruction in doing needle-felting,enlighten designers to devoting in using needle-felting to get more decorative expression;finally,combined with the current development of high-tech trend in textile design,the prospect of the application and further research on needle-felting was given.
