Research And Practice On Light Rendering Application Of Pulp Materials In Plastic Arts

Pulp is the material before paper making,which has cherished a long history.However,the creation for plastic arts directly using pulp has only been developing for half a century.The original fiber papermaking process was completed by the chain of choosing pulp material,production,paper,etc.As the technology is ever advancing and industrialization is continuously accelerating,papermaking,the traditional handicraft,is also gradually replaced by machine production.In modern society,living quality is improving,as well as the aesthetic taste and the pursuit for personal life,allowing people to re-examine the application of pulp plastic art with its artistic value in social life.Nowadays,works made by pulp plastic art is better than that by finished paper,not only in stereoscopic texture effect,but also in natural collage and stitching,or even in stereoscopic color effect of natural dyeing.As a result,more and more artists are seeking original pulp plastic art.Light is the natural gift of human life.Along with the progress of science and technology,human’s ability to use light has developed from pure natural light to artificial light.Based on the ever deepening human understanding of optical principle,people are researching and utilizing pulp optical principle widely with each passing day.With the light permeability of pulp,strong or single light will create an artistic spark from a crash through projection,refraction,reflection and transmission,enabling pulp art to show great beauties in modern life.The purpose of this study is to explore the theory and practice of light rendering application of pulp materials in plastic arts.As early as in ancient China,light rendering of pulp materials was widely applied in living goods and building appliance,such as paper lanterns,folding screens,etc.Nowadays,an increasing number of artists and designers are dedicated to the innovation,creation,and popularization for light rendering in plastic arts,attempting to apply it to artistic creation and life improving.This thesis is composed by four chapters.The first chapter elaborates the theoretical value and practical significance of the principle and application of light rendering application of pulp materials,while the second chapter clears off its practical application and development.In the third chapter,it explores the effect of hand-made paper undercircumstances of different materials,colors,textures,lights,etc.,with the help of color temperature test,and makes a conclusion after collecting texts and images properly.On the basis of the research results attained before,along with the pulp plastic techniques,it creates a work of pulp device named “Dead Leaves Revive” in the fourth chapter,which also makes an ending to the whole thesis.
