Designing and construction of metal-involved supramolecular architectures based on crystal engineering are currently of interests in the field of supramolecular chemistry and material science,Not only by their intriguing structural motifs, but also their potential applications as luminescence, catalysis and potential applications in biology, particularly in modern medicine.Multidentate ligands such as polycarboxylate and N-heterocyclic ligands are widely used in designing and controlling synthesis of these functional compounds.Recently,N-heterocyclic carboxylate ligands have gained considerable attention due to their abundant coordination modes and functional properties,as well as hydrogen-bonding donors and acceptors under solution conditions.Transition metal complexes play a vital role in nucleic acid chemistry due to their diverse applications such as sequence specific binding, structural probes and therapeutic agents. In the last decades,an increasingly number of compounds containing transition metal ions such as platinum and ruthenium have shown to be active against cancer. These drugs have poor selectivity toward their biological target and high toxicity. In order to found better alternative candidates of non-platinum based metal complexes, biological anticancer complexes were successfully synthesized.1,4-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)terephthalic acid is a new ligand with multiple coordination sites so that we synthesized and characterized two novel complexes. This paper mainly includes the following six aspects:1.Two single crystal metal complexes [Cu(L)(H2O)]·H2O(1)and [Mn(H2O)6]·L·H2O(2)were prepared under hydrothermal conditions and the structures of both complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction and characterized by IR analysis and elemental analysis.2.The binding ability of two complexes with fish sperm DNA was investigated by the ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence spectra.Gel electrophoresis assay demonstrated the effective ability of two complexes to cleave the p BR322 plasmid DNA.3.The effects of two complexes on He La cells were observed by inverted fluorescence microscopy. The cytotoxicity of two complexes on KB cells ware determined by flow cytometry.4.The molecular docking software yasara was used to simulate the docking of Cu(?)and Mn(?)complexes with proteins, the binding mode was observed.
