TGG ceramicshas good prospects for development because it can meet the requirements of the preparation of large-size Faraday devices sample and the shape of the sample. To obtain the TGG ceramics with good performance, the precursor powders with high purity, fine particle size and uniformity is required. In this dissertation, the ceramic precursors were preparedby solid-phase method and sol-gel method. The structure and properties of the powders were analyzed by XRD,FT-IR and TG-DTA,and the influencing factors of the two methods were also studied. The results indicatedthat the powders synthesized by solid-phase method sintering at 1200? for 6h have good properties. And the optimal TGG ceramic precursors were prepared by sol-gel method at 1000?,the ratio of metal nitrate to citric acid was 1:1.5,and PH was 4.As compared,sol-gel method is more suitable for ceramic raw materialpowders.TGG ceramic precursors were pressed to form a green compact, then sintered in vacuum to obtain a TGG ceramic. The microstructures,Verdet constants and transmittance were measured.According to XRD and SEManalysis,TGG ceramics with good transmittance can be obtained by additive sintering with 0.3wt% MgO at 1550? for 20 h,and the transmittance of the ceramics is 48%.The Verdet constant is-41.6 rad·T-1·m-1 at 1064 nm.
