With people's environmental awareness strengthening and the demands increasing for ecological products,development and utilization new natural fibers is becoming an important issue.PMFT has a long history of cultivation as a medicinal plant.Over the years,researches and applications of PMFT mainly focused on the root,but a lot of rattans were abandoned or burned,resulting in a waste of resources and environmental pollution.According to the research,PMFT phloem contained rich cellulose with excellent potential for textile raw material.Degummed fiber was soft and abundant in amino acids,vitamins,inorganic salts and essential trace elements.The paper took PMFT rattan phloem to make single fiber,fiber's structure and properties were researched,dyeing property of PMFT rattan phloem single fiber was discussed.On the basis,the process of PMFT rattan phloem fiber was systematically explored,for providing a theoretical basis to develop processing fiber.The main points and conclusions as follows:PMFT rattan degummed with sodium hydroxide boiling to extract single fiber.Its length,fineness were measured.The results showed,the average length of single-fiber was 12.29 mm,its length coefficient of variation reached 34.20%;the average fineness was 11.65?m,fineness coefficient of variability was 21.58%.Using SEM observation,the cross section of fiber was irregular oval with the cavity,the longitudinal morphology had convolution and node.According to X-diffraction,PMFT rattan phloem fiber was a typical cellulose I fiber.The fiber's crystallization degree was 59.45%that was closed to cotton,the orientation degree was 0.88,which was less than ramie fiber.So the fiber belonged to moderate crystallinity and high orientation fiber.Based on the analysis of functional groups,the fiber was in accordance with the characteristics of cellulose fibers,contained celllulose,hemicellulose and lignin.The fiber's degree of polymerization was 1286 that lower than ramie.PMFT rattan phloem single fiber had good moisture absorption and desorption properties.According to the result,its moisture absorption and desorption performance were between cotton and ramie fibers.The density was similar to ramie.Thermal stability of the fiber was well.PMFT rattan phloem single fiber's chemical properties were tested with different concentrations of acids,alkali,oxidizing agents,reducing agents and other chemical reagents in certain conditions.The result showed,PMFT rattan phloem single fiber's chemical performance was poorest among PMFT rattan fiber,cotton,ramie fiber.And PMFT rattan phloem single fiber had good behavior in alkali and deoxidizer reagents,poor in acid and oxidizer reagents.PMFT rattan phloem single fiber's dye uptake,fixation were studied in different dyeing process(concentration,temperature,dyeing time,electrolytes dosage,fixing agent,fixing time)with medium temperature reactive dyes by using disseminated one bath dyeing process.The result showed that fiber's dyeing effects was different with different dyes.Reactive red 3BFN staining was better than reactive blue KN-R.In the same process condition,PMFT rattan phloem single fiber's dyeing property between cotton and ramie.The optimum technology and best technology of processing fiber were derived by orthogonal experiments that took residual gum,residual lignin content,linear density,fracture strength as indicators.The result showed,pre-hydrolyzing treatment,alkali cooking temperature,the concentration of alkali boiling,alkali cooking time effected the properties of processing fiber and the influences were different.Alkali cooking process damaged the fiber that resulting in the length was short,staple rate was high,length of coefficient of variation was larger,breaking strength was low,break elongation was similar to hemp fiber.
