With the rapid development of economy and the increase of population,the discharge of industrial wastewater and domestic sewage is increasing year by year,as a result,the pollution of surface water is serious in China,.Among which,the algae blooming induced by eutrophication is the most widespread,so it is one of the key problems in water treatment to remove algae.Vermiculite ishigh-yield and low-costand it has strong adsorption capacity therefore it is usually used in pollutants removal of water.vermiculite was modified with different methods in this paper,in order to make its adsorption capacity enhanced and used in algae removal,which will be very significative to remove algae in water.Three concentrations(0.5 mol/L?2.0 mol/L ? 8.0 mol/L)of HCl and NaOH were used to modify vermiculite at 100? and 60? for 8 h and 24 h,and three concentrations(2,4 and 8 times)of CTAB and chitosan were used to modify vermiculite,and to research the effect of algae remoal in water,the results are as follows:(1)After dealing with the high concentration of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution,vermiculite surface structure changed by microscope scanning,there were more pore number more,more complicated construction and looser structure.It showed that HCl and NaOH modification improved the vermiculite adsorption characteristi(2)The concentration,time and temperature had no influence on algae removal,and the turbidity increased with the increase of modified vermiculite usage.(3)The modified vermiculite with chitosan had no effect on algae removal,and the turbidity increased with the increase of modified vermiculite usage obviously.(4)The modified vermiculite with CTAB could remove algae effectively,and the two times quantity was the best.The turbidity and chlorophyll of water decreased for 82.8% and 87.3% respectively.(5)The effect of algae removal was the best with CTAB modified vermiculite at pH7,but the effect of pH is not low.When the dosage of CTAB modified vermiculite is above 0.25 g/L,the effect of algae removal was the best.When the initial concentration of algae was lower than 20 NTU,the treatment effect decreased.2 times quantity of CTAB modified vermiculite was a good agent to remove algae from water,and it has a good application prospect.
