In order to meet the needs of the development of the industry,the machine tool,as the mother of industry,plays an important role in this process.As one of the most important parts of the high-grade CNC machine tools,the quality of the column directly affects the machining accuracy and the working life of the CNC machine tools.With the continuous improvement of the machining accuracy requirements,the high-grade CNC machine tool column requires higher resistance to bias load and better motion stiffness and positioning accuracy.Therefore,in order to ensure that the column has sufficient strength and processing accuracy,it is necessary to avoid the defects in the casting process.The traditional casting methods are generally based on the experience,this method will not only cause great waste of material,but also difficult to guarantee the quality of products.In this paper,27 series of gantry boring and milling machine column as the research object.The numerical simulation of the casting process is carried out by PROCAST.Combined with the actual production conditions,the casting process is improved and the casting defects are reduced.In this paper,the gating system of the column is designed according to the theory of "horizontal bottom pouring",and the three-dimensional model of the initial scheme is established by Proe5.0.Then,the forming process of the column is simulated by the finite element simulation software PROCAST.The casting defects of shrinkage porosity and shrinkage can be predicted by analyzing the temperature field and velocity field and the temperature field of the solidification and heat transfer process.In this paper,the influence of the runner on the flow rate of molten iron and the influence of the solidification speed on the defects of the casting are discussed through the analysis of the simulation results.After several tests,the initial scheme has been improved to determine the reasonable distribution of cold iron and vent riser.And the finite difference simulation software Anycasting is used to verify the improvement scheme.The comparison results show that the two software have good consistency in the prediction of casting defects.Finally,the experiment is made with the same casting process as the simulation experiment.The reliability of the simulation results is verified by experiments.The numerical simulation software is used to design the casting process and the quality of the process can be observed directly and quickly.This will not only shorten the design time cycle,but also can help enterprises to reduce the cost of materials under the premise of improving the yield of castings.Which for the production of complex large castings have a good guiding significance.
