Copper is an attractive material for a wide range of applications in the power industry, electric industry and engineering industry because of its good electrical and thermal conductivities. However, pure copper possesses poor hardness, yield strength and wear resistance, leading to premature failure of components in service.Owing to the embedded carbon fibers,it not only improves the material strength and wear resistance, but also maintains high conductive thermal conductivity.Due to the bad wettability copper on carbon fibers, they cannot be directly synthesized. If copper is plated on carbon surface,or chemical copper is sintered with carbon under the temperature below the melting point of copper, copper and carbon can be combined with mechanical physical union leading to a weak interface combination.Studies have shown that adding alloying elements can improve carbon/copper interface combination. In this article,we add active metal Ti in the copper matrix preparing C/Cu composite material with the vacuum hot-pressing furnace, studying the concrete mechanism on interface of C/Cu composites, the influence of Ti content on the alloy liquid to C/C composite material penetration depth, and the influence of raw material content on the properties of composites. The influence of the presence of titanium on the interface and specific wetting mechanism were analyzed by energy dispersive spectrometry and X-ray diffractometry. The results show that Ti element can improve the wettability of molten Cu on carbon fibers. The mechanism is that Ti in the alloy diffuses into the interface to form TiC transition layer which is in situ generated, and the proportion of Ti and C is not 1:1,but an excess of C on carbon fiber side,an excess of Ti on metallic copper side.Meanwhile, the content of copper increase gradually in transition layer near the copper side. Therefore, the effect of Ti in superalloy melt is forming the transition layer which the composition changes gradually on C/Cu interface, which connect the carbon fiber and copper naturally. At the macro, molten Cu wets carbon fibers. The influence of Ti content on the alloy liquid to C/C composite material penetration depth were studied by the preparation of C/C composite material body. When the content of Ti is 5%,the wetting behavior did not occur basically. When the content of Ti increases to 10%,the penetration depth is 404?m.When the content of Ti is 15%,the wettability of the alloy liquid on C/C composite material is the best with the penetration depth is 866?m.When the content of Ti is 20%,the wetting behavior becomes bad with the penetration depth is 427p,m.When the content of Ti is 25%,the penetration depth is 157?m.C/Cu Composites were synthesized by mixing and forcing copper powder, titanium powder and carbon fibers. The mechanical properties of the composites were studied by strength and hardness testing. The results show that the uniform Cf/Cu Composites can be prepared with Ti/C mole ratio less than 1.4.When the Cfis 3%,the bending strength of the composites firstly increases and then decreases, while the hardness is on the rise as a whole. When Ti/C mole ratio is 1.6,the bending strength of the composites decreases with the increase of carbon fiber content, and the hardness is a linear increase relationship overall.
