Polypropylene?PP?is the most commonly used plastics for it has excellent mechanics property,heat-resistant property,wide resources,and low cost.In recent years,it was widely used in various fields of industry production.However,the further applications of PP in many fields are limited due to its poor dyeability,hygroscopicity,and easily fragile at low temperature,and low mechanical tensile,hardness,and poor compatibility with other polar polymers and mineral fillers.In this article,solid phase grafting of the single-monomer and multi-monomers systems of glycidyl methacrylate?GMA?/styrene?St?onto polypropylene?PP?were studied respectively.The kinetics of solid phase graft polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate on polypropylene is explored.In the reaction of solid phase graft polymerization of GMA on PP,the effects of amounts of GMA,BPO and xylene,mass ratio of AM and BPO,reaction temperature and reaction time were studied on sloid phase graft reaction.The grafting product was measured by means of FTIR spectra.The results showed that the effects of amount of graft monomer and initiator,reaction time and temperature,interface agent on graft degree were extremely similar.The graft degree increase at first and drop in the later with time?concentration and temperature increasing.The maximum graft degree was 7.8%at the reaction temperature 100 ?,PP:GMA:BPO:xylene=100:10:0.3:10?mass ration?,reaction time 120 min.Using AM-BPO as the initiator,the grafting degree significantly increased from 7.8%to 8.4%,the value of MFR decreased obviously.It was proved that using St as the second graft monomer to solid phase reaction system could enhance the graft degree.The results show that the excellent conditions of solid phase grafting are as follows:reaction temperature 100 ?,PP:BPO:xylene=100:0.3:10?mass ration?,GMA:St=2:1,concentration of total monomer 10%of PP,reaction time 140 min.Finally,the kinetics of solid phase graft polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate on polypropylene was studied in the paper.The effects of initiator concentration,monomer concentration,temperature on the polymerization in the graft polymerization were investigated.The results indicadited that the initial polymerization rate and monomer concentration was 1.57,and initiator concentration was 0.48 power relation,polymerization temperature followed Arrhenius equation.We built up the model of polymerization rate Re=Aexp?—Ea/RT?[I]0.48[M]1.57,the value of the apparent reactive energy was Ea=86.63 kJ/mol.
