| Currently, human beings are facing a lot of environmental problems, and global warming is one of environmental problems with which most people concern. With the gradual increase in urban road construction, low-carbon green roads have become a hot topic in research. The problem of CO2 pollution on urban road traffic has become serious. As the major source of carbon, CO2 emissions from motor vehicles have attracted great concern. However, road area vegetation, as a carbon sink tool, has economic and environmental benefit, receiving widespread concern in China and abroad. Vegetation plays an important role in improving the urban ecological environment.This paper takes an urban road artery, the Xuanwu Avenue of Nanjing city, as the engineering background, and carries out the research on the vehicle traffic carbon source and the vegetation carbon sequestration of road area. The research contents and related results are as followed.(1) Through the measurement of, motor vehicle data and vegetation data in the road region of the Xuanwu Avenue, the paper analyzes the characteristics of traffic distribution and the factors affecting the carbon sequestration. A corresponding CO2 emissions estimate model and a vegetation carbon sink model are established. The carbon emissions and carbon sequestration in the study area is calculated for the year of 2015. The results show that the carbon emission and carbon sequestration in the year 2015 are 8.94x104 t and 0.1753x104 t, respectively.(2) By analyzing the influencing factors to carbon emission and carbon sink, A prediction model of traffic carbon emissions and road area vegetation carbon sink for the years of 2016-2025 was built. The results indicate that, in the years of 2015-2025, the carbon emission and carbon sink are 2.9626 million tons and 28.029 thousand tons, respectively. The carbon emission and annual carbon sequestration are 621.7 thousand tons and 35.905 thousand tons, respectively, which are six times and two times of the figures of 2015. In 2015, the annual carbon sequestration per unit green area of Xuanwu Avenue was 34kg/m2. While in 2025, the prodicted annual carbon sequestration per unit green area of Xuanwu Avenue will be 70.95kg/m2, two times of the figure in 2015.(3) Through predictive analysis of the traffic carbon emission and road area vegetation carbon sequestration of Xuanwu Avenue between 2016-2025, the carbon sequestration and its economic value were evaluated. The results show that the amount of carbon sequestration in the road section of intersection along Xuanwu Avenue is only 3%5% of the respected, vehicle traffic carbon emission, far from equilibrium. The annual carbon sequestration capacity drops annually compared with the fast increase of traffic carbon emission. Therefore, it is necessary to increase road area vegetation and improve road traffic conditions and other measures should be taken to reduce the atmospheric CO2 concentration. The vegetation carbon sequestration in Xuanwu Avenue has an average annual value of 49688 RMB Yuan. A total of 28029.24 tons of CO2 will be fixed during the years of 2015-2025, valuing a total of 546570 RMB Yuan. |
