Residue oil hydrogenation is the most effective residue pretreating technology, is an important way of heavy oil transformation, it can not only deal with high impurities content of the Middle East vacuum residue, provide high quality raw materials to fluid catalyst cracking unit, improve light oil yield and quality, also can slow down the corrosion of the downstream devices. In the existing residue hydrodesulfurization technology, the fixed bed technology is the most mature, the fastest growing, most widely used. And the catalyst is the core.CNPC residue fixed bed hydrogenation processing technology successfully developed PHR series catalyst after years of research, and complete a circle of industrial plant operations smoothly 2015-2016 on Dalian West Pacific Petrochemical RDS unit.This thesis investigates catalyst activity and stability, product distribution and properties, and make a comparative study with another series imported catalyst in the whole running circle. We trace and analyse feed rate, reaction temperature, bed pressure drop and bed temperature rise, and make three catalyst performance calibration at the beginning middle and late of running circle, we found that at the same action temperature, the same feed rate and properties conditions, the product(Ni+V) content of PHR series catalyst is higher, sulfur and residue carbon are lower,after the analysis of catalyst activity and different grading, we found the main cause of this difference is due to different grading of the two catalyst, under the condition of same grading scale, PHR and imported products properties after hydrogenation are basically identical.
