Iron and steel enterprises ’ implementation of reactive power compensation for enterprises to improve power supply reliability,energy saving and emission reduction,to reduce the consumption and improve the efficiency of electrical equipment,guarantee the quality of products has a very important meaning.A static var compensator(SVC)has a fast response time,high performance,and are widely used in iron and steel enterprises.Based on a practical project,for example,introduced a static var compensator(SVC)in large scale application of LF furnace.LF furnace is a typical shock load of steel enterprises,brings to the grid reactive power impact during normal production,resulting in a large number of harmonics,voltage fluctuation,voltage distortion and power factor indicators exceeded the national standard,serious threat to the safe operation of the power supply system.210 tons LF furnace in Second steel-making plant of Shougang this article since commissioning,on reactive power and harmonic impact analyses,evaluates the quality of electricity showed the index exceeded the national standard,so installation of static var compensation device.This in-depth analysis of the various types of reactive power compensation device in principle,comparative advantages and disadvantages of a variety of compensation proposed using TCR+FC type static var compensator system solutions.This paper expounds the TCR-parameter design for static var compensation device,control system design,filter device selection,determining filters,and filter parameters was security check,finally,simulation software of SVC put into effect after the simulation.Based on the actual device using voltage fluctuations,harmonic currents,parameters such as voltage distortion,power factor test results indicators to meet the requirements and achieved the desired results,achieved good social and economic benefits.
