In this thesis, hydrothermal carbonization of glucose was carried out to form the carbon aerogel(CA)with the water-soluble polymer(polyvinylpyrrolidone/polyacrylamide/sodium polyacrylic acid)as the template agent. The morphology, structure and composition of the as-prepared CA were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy(XPS)and N2 adsorption-stripping at low temperature. The adsorptive performance was studied by removing the heavy metal Cr(VI)and organic dye.The as-prepared CA have a mutual crisscross three-dimensional(3D)porous network framework with low density and high porosity by the hydrothermal method, meanwhile its surface contains abundant reactive oxygen functional groups. In the polyvinylpyrrolidone and glucose system, with the growth of the quality of polyvinylpyrrolidone in the range of the mass ration of polyvinylpyrrolidone to glucose from 0:6 to 0.5:6,the specific surface area and pore volume of the above samples increased but the size of nanoparticle and hole decreased. So the polymer can regulate and control the nanoparticle size and surface area of the as-prepared samples.According to the results of characterization, the possible mechanism on formation of the CA was proposed. The products have a good removal efficiency for heavy metal Cr(VI)and organic dye. When the mass ration of polyvinylpyrrolidone to glucose is 0.5:6,the specific surface area is 89.9 m2/g,the particle size is about 50 nm and the adsorption capacity for Cr(VI)is 369.8 mg/g.The resulting materials are promising application in wastewater treatment as the adsorbent. We attempt to modify the surface of the CA by crosslinking with diethylenetriamine(DETA)and graft copolymerization with triethylamine.
