g-C3N4 and Bi12TiO20 were prepared by polycondensation and hydrothermal treatment method respectively. Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4 composite photocatalytic materials were prepared by a simple Ultrasound treatment method with g-C3N4 and Bi12TiO20 as raw materials. The Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4 composites were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, UV-vis/DRS and PL. The photocatalytic activities of Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4 composite photocatalytic materials were evaluated by degradation of aqueous RhB and PNP under the visible light irradiation.Additionally, the best degradation conditions of aqueous RhB and PNP were determined through systematical investigation. At proper g-C3N4 loading, the photocatalytic activity of Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4 outperforms pure g-C3N4 and Bi12TiO20. The main active species yielded in the g-C3N4-and Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4-catalyzed RhB degradation systems were also investigated by the free radical and hole scavenging experiments. Accordingly, the photodegradation mechanism was given. And 10 wt.% Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4 was chosen to evaluate the recyclability of the Bi12TiO20/g-C3N4 photocatalysts by five times' RhB degradation reaction. The separation and transportation of photogenerated electrons and holes were investigated by photoelectrochemistry experiments and fluorescence spectra analysis. The specific process of the transportation of photogenerated carriers was studied by the band structure, which provided theoretical basis for the design of composite photocatalysts.
