Alumina- magnesia-carbon brick has been mostly used in steel ladle at home and abroad, it has good high temperature performance, high slag resistance performance and good spalling resistance. With the application of modern steel-making techniques such as continuous casting and external refining, as well the output increase of purified steel, the refractory working condition becomes worse. Meanwhile, molten steel temperature rise, molten steel stay longer in ladle, erosion from molten steel and slag and chemical erosion of slag becomes more serious, it all restrict the ladle life, it is high time to improve the ladle life.In order to further improve the steel ladle service life of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick and the erosion resistance of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick, this paper mainly studied the development and application of high performance alumina-magnesia-carbon brick. Main contents are as follow:1. The performance of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick with different magnesia forms and adding amounts.2. The performance of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick with different critical particle sizes.3. the slag resistance performance with different micropowders and adding amounts.4. the anti-oxidation performance with different antioxidants and adding amounts.The study has shown that:Part of magnesia uses pre-reaction spinel can improve the performance of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick. With the increase of magnesia fines, more magnesia-alumina spinels come into being with volume expansion, resulting in the expansion of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick. The expansion can improve the density of matrix. The high property alumina-magnesia-carbon brick used 3.5% thermoplastic phenolic resin as binding agent, premium bauxite calcined white corundum or white corundum 、magnesia and graphite used as aggregate, metallic silicon and aluminum as antioxidant used in the 70 ton steel ladle in Masteel, it has shown that the service life reached more than 100 times much higher than before, it also decrease the risk of spalling, so the ladle thermal cycle efficiency improved,meanwhile the baking time shortened. In total, the trial production’s using effect of alumina-magnesia-carbon brick is quite good, it can meet the requirement of production and construction. |
