Taking the advantage of the difference of components' proportion in gas and liquid phase to separator the mixture, distillation is most widely used separation process in the petroleum refinery industries, petrochemical industries, chemical industries and other process industries. Distillation equipment is the main energy consumption equipment in most of the production process, its design and operation optimization has important practical significance, thus the research of modeling distillation is always an important industrial and academic research topic. Although the predecessors conducted extensive research in this field, also now we have some powerful tools, such as Apsen Plus and pro ?, building the design and operation model of distillation is still an unusual work. This paper systematically reviews and evaluates the previous's work, has achieved the following findings:(1) Based on the analysis of the gas and liquid phase's fluid motion law, the up-going gas is divided into short circuit and contact gas, the contact gas contacts with a part of liquid on the plate and both of them reach the thermodynamic equilibrium, and thus in this topic we establish a local equilibrium mathematical model of plate. The model's structure is simple and the model calculates fastly, which avoids the plate efficiency which is difficult to estimate.(2) Based on the concepts of stream and accumulator, we set up the distillation's dynamic model, and make the simulation program with MATLAB.(3) The simulation has verified the effectiveness of the model and simulation tool program.(4) The distillation simulation platform which is based on WEB server is established.
