| Styrene is the basic product of petrochemical industry and the important raw material of chemical industry. This article describes the 250,000 tons per year styrene plant for process simulation. The simulation discussed in the article includes two parts, ethylbenzene part and styrene part. Ethylbenzene part use pure ethylene process, and styrene part use adiabatic dehydrogenation process. The article first analyzes the market of styrene, and then describes the existing styrene factory. Ethylbenzene and styrene technology development have also been introduced. Development and application of catalysts for the two process are described. After obtaining basic data from initial design of the plant this process is established using Aspen plus simulation software. In this paper the impact on alkylation, transalkylation and dehydrogenation reactions were analyzed. The dimensions of key towers are accounted and the plan of two towers in the crude styrene distillation is compared. The plant was successfully operated in June 2011 for the first time and achieved good results. The advantages of the process are advanced technology, simple equipment and flexible operation. The purity of styrene product is over 99.8%. The energy consumption is 313.8 kilogram standard oil per ton styrene. This process can be extended to the similar factory that is new constructed or expanded. |
