Paddy is an important kind food crop in China, which is also a key source of agricultural GHG emission. Therefore, nowadays a hotspot of scientific research is how to mitigate GHG emission from paddy fields without decreasing food production. In resent years, the most famous research approach to discover the relationship between paddy yield and GHG emission from paddy fields is experiment at farm level. However, with the research target growing over time and space, the experiment doesn’t work well. A new research approach which is establishing a systematic assessment model for paddy field at both site-level and regional level, should be employed. In this research, the assessment model is built based on the coupling of DSSAT, DNDC and AEZ model, the first step is updating the rice cultivar parameter information and translating into DNDC model, then upscaling DNDC model with cropping zone methodology, after built the model, with the historical basis database during 1981 to 2010 and the data of future under climate change scenario, the assessment of paddy planting in paddy field in China has been accomplished. The result shows that, this model could simulate paddy growing very well at both site-level and regional level, and with the site-level simulation, a scientific mitigation approach has been found. The methane emission average decreased 24.87% and nitrous oxide emission average decreased 38.39% under mitigation scenario.
