Ceramic is a kind of artificial lightweight aggregate. It is widely used in food, chemical,oil, wastewater treatment, building materials and other industries with its light weight, high strength, heat preservation, heat insulation, anti freezing, anti permeability, anti earthquake and so on. Color ceramsite as a special breed of ceramsite, because of its colorful, beautiful appearance, has been more widely used in gardens, flower pot surface decoration, road paving and other field. With the improvement of people's material standards, the landscaping requirements have become more sophisticated, and bright color ceramsite will also be the icing on the cake in the future a better life for the people.In this paper, we mainly study the preparation process of one time molding color ceramsite, and analyze its application performance. During the study, to make full use of solid wastes, according to the requirements of haydite on the composition of the raw materials, we specially chose gold tailings as the main raw material to calcine color ceramsite. Therefore,the research of this paper not only expands the practical scope of ceramsite, but also provides a new development space for the solid waste gold tailings, which plays a certain role in promoting the economic development of the country.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1. Test performance of the raw material for preparation of colored ceramic, and analyze the gold tailings and the Yellow River silt of the chemical composition, mineral composition,thermal properties, and particle size. Besides, its preparation process are described.2. Test burning fire color ceramic by adding the color element oxides in the raw materials respectively Co2O3?Cr2O3?Cr2O3-SnO2?Fe2O3?Cr2O3-Co2O3?MnO2 and MnO2.The effect of raw material composition and temperature system on the color of ceramic is preliminarily determined by experiment. Results show that the addition of Co2O3 can get blue ceramic.Adding Cr2O3 can get green and red brown ceramic; adding Cr2O3, SnO2 can get green grey and dark purple ceramic. Adding Fe2O3 can get red brown ceramic. Mixed adding Cr2O3,Co2O3 can peacock green ceramic granules. The addition of MnO2 can get brown ceramic.Roasting temperature on color had no significant effect.3. Focus on the addition of Co2O3, Cr2O3, and Cr2O3-SnO2 to get the optimum ratio ofraw materials and sintering ceramsite. Two sets of orthogonal experiments are designed respectively. Results show:(1) With gold tailings, the Yellow River silt, Al2O3 based ingredients, the best proportion of sky-blue ceramsite is: Co2O3: MgO:ZnO as 3:8:6; optimum sintering plan to add the amount of pulverized coal is 2%; optimal firing system for the calcining is temperature500 ?, calcined for 15 minutes, the firing temperature 1270 ?, baking time of 25 minutes.According to the plan, the bulk density of the ceramic is 704 kg/m3; the cylinder pressure is17.8MPa; the water absorption is 7.5%, the apparent density is 1421 kg /m3.(2) With gold tailings, the Yellow River silt, Al2O3 based ingredients, the best proportion of chrome-green ceramsite is: Co2O3: MgO:ZnO as 5:8:0; optimum sintering plan to add the amount of pulverized coal is 2%; optimal firing system for the calcining is temperature500 ?, calcined for 15 minutes, the firing temperature 1140 ?, baking time of 25 minutes.According to the plan, the bulk density of the ceramic is 714kg/m3; the cylinder pressure is13.4MPa; the water absorption is 4.5%, the apparent density is 1451 kg /m3.(3) With gold tailings, the Yellow River silt, Al2O3 based ingredients, the best proportion of dark purplish-red flake ceramsite is: Cr2O3:SnO2:CaCO3:H3BO3 as 1:15:12:3; optimum sintering plan to add the amount of pulverized coal is 2%; optimal firing system for the calcining is temperature 500 ?, calcined for 15 minutes, the firing temperature 1140 ?,baking time of 25 minutes. According to the plan, the bulk density of the ceramic is 714kg/m3;the cylinder pressure is 13.4MPa; the water absorption is 4.5%, the apparent density is1451kg/m3.
