Smelting industry is a basic industry of a country,which provides a steady stream of metal materials for the construction and development of the country.Especially in China,steel is still ina large demand currently.According to reports,China has become the world's largest smelting country.However,compared to the world advanced level,China's metallurgical industry science and technology is still " big and weak".Extensive production will inevitably bring about the decrease of air quality in smelting workshop.In smelting workshop,workers need to rake the dross within the molten metal dross out of the furnace,and it will be in the oxidation reaction to generate a lot of smoke at the same time,which is harmful to the health of workers.Therefore,how to control and exclude the dust generated by thedross in smelting workshop effectively,is the focus of this research.Based on CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics)technology,this paper analyzes the physical and kinetic characteristics of fume,and use the Euler-Lagrange method to calculate the indoor high temperature fume movein the effect of the thermal buoyancy.Under the existing experimental conditions,we test the movement of fume generated by the burning of incense in indoor air,so as to verify the accuracy of the CFD method.Finally,we use the CFD to simulation analysis and design optimization of the local exhaust hood above the dross in smelting workshop.Some important conclusions are listed below.(1)In the absence of transverse air flowinterference,the local exhaust hood of shape(b)has a better control of the fume particle.(2)Under the fixed exhaust hood height and cross section size,the higher residual pressure,the better control effect of the fume,but also the more energy consumption.Under the comprehensive consideration,the selected optimal residual pressure is 300 Pa.(3)Under the fixed exhaust residual pressure and cross section size,the smaller height of the exhaust hood,the better control effect of the fume.However,in order to consider the convenience of workers,the best height of the exhaust hood is set to be1.5m;(4)Under the fixed exhaust residual pressure and height,in order to ensure the control effect of fume particles,exhaust hood section size should neither too large nortoo small.By comparison,when the length of pollution source surface is 0.4(m),the best cross section size of the exhaust hood is L=1.0m.Finally,the best optimization designby the CFD Technology is the(b)shapeexhaust hood,which residual pressure is 300 Pa,and height is 1.5m and section size is L=1.0m.
