With the development of science, the demand of miniaturized or complicated components is increasing, which contributed to the rapid development of microfabrication technology. While the micro-cutting technology is an important direction micro-fabrication technology. The rapid development of computer technology makes finite element simulation assisted micro-machining become an important research tool.This paper carried out micro-cutting research by finite element method to simulate.The main contents are summarized as follows:(1) On the issue of micro-cutting forces are not easy acquired, combining with FEA, we carried out to optimize the design of the handle structure, study the relationship between cutting force and structure, fitting in various structures slight deflection deflection and cutting forces under the formula for the detection of micro-cutting cutting force provided support.(2) For the design of micro-cutting tool technology, for micro-cutting tool critical strength and failure modes, we studied the optimal selection of micro-cutting tool’s design and parameters. Conducted 50μm diameter micro-cutting tool’s structure optimized design which combined with micro-milling experiment to evaluate different micro-cutting tools’ geometry performance.(3) For micro-cutting mechanism, combined with FEA to analyze: Carried out the relationship between the minimum cutting thickness and friction coefficient, and obtained the minimum thickness is related with the main cutting edge radius,meanwhile affected by the coefficient of friction in a small area in cutting 2024-T3 aluminum alloy material; Contrast the dual phase material and single phase material in micro-machining mechanism by FEA, and establish the pearlite and ferrite microstructure, show the tool exhibits different cutting features in cutting different phase material, which lead to greater force volatility between different phases thereby affect the cutting quality. we studied specific cutting force by FEM, and explained the relationship between the micro cutting unit cutting force and cutting thickness.
