The tool system of shank-SFH(shrink-fit holder)-cutter,which has the characteristics of simple structure,high clamping intensity,high clamping stability,high bending strength,high rotary balance and easily close to deep cavity,become an important method to final machining of large-scale and deep cavity die.At present,the study about the tool system of shank-SFH-cutter in the actual machining process is not enough,and its' cutting performance in the high-speed machining needs further investigation.This paper used die steel P20 as high speed milling manufacturing object,investigated surface roughness milled by the tool system of shank-SFH-cutter through orthogonal experimental design.It has analysed the influence of processing parameters such as overhanging length of cutter,spindle speed,milling depth,milling width and feed per tooth on the workpiece surface roughness.The results show that the five parameters are highly significant,the descending order of impact is as fellow:milling width,feed per tooth ? z,overhanging length of cutter L,the spindle speed n,milling depth.Based on the results of orthogonal test,the prediction model of surface roughness was established by multivariate linear regression analysis,the model and the regression coefficients were tested remarkably,and the results showed that the model was highly remarkable.And compared the model predicted value with the actual measured value that the predicted error was between1.58%-16.72%,it means the model has high forecasting precision.Used FEM software ANSYS to analysis the maximum equivalent stress on the nodes of the SFH by a given force with different overhanging length of cutter.Analysed the maximum displacement of the tool system nodes by a given force with different overhanging length of cutter.Through the high speed milling experiment,investigated the influence of overhanging length of cutter on the cutter wear,milling force,surface roughness and surface morphology.Under the same cutting parameters,high speed milling tests were carried out using the spring clamp shank and two different models of Shrink-fit holder.Compared the property of three cutter systems by reference to cutter wear,milling force,surface roughness and surface topography showed the Shrink-fit holder B was better than the other two clamping components.
