Chlorine, a yellow green gas, has strong excitant odour and a highly toxic matter. Chlorine gas has serious harm to human body and it can stimulate eyes, nose, and throat and upper respiratory tract, etc. When the mass concentration of 1~6 mg/m3 of chlorine causes to the person significant stimulation, the unbearable with 12 mg/m3, and the 40~60 mg/m3 for 30~60 min can cause severe poisoning; 120~170 mg/m3 is very dangerous, causing acute pulmonary edema and pneumonia, and 3000 mg/m3 can immediately results in paralysis of respiratory center and appears “stroke sex death”. Chlorine has harmful effects to plant and corrosive action to metal products and building. The state standard provided that the allowable maximum concentration of chlorine gas is low 1 mg/m3. Therefore, how to do well the work of production safety of the liquid chlorine is very important. Therefore, the storage and use of liquid chlorine in production should make preventive measures and take strict precautions against all kinds of accidents. This requires production workers engaged in liquid chlorine not only should be familiar with the nature of the liquid chlorine, but also should know a lot of matters needing attention in liquid chlorine production, all kinds of protective equipment, first aid tool use, each production link of existing risk factors, all kinds of accident emergency rescue plan, etc. This article separately discussed the hazard recognition and risk control from the production process control, risk analysis, preventive measures as well as the liquid chlorine leak after emergency treatment, etc. And how to do and how to carry out emergency disposal were pointed out by analyzing possible danger and harmful factors in production in the paper.
