High performance numerical control machine tool must be premised on a high-performance ball screw. As the key component of CNC machine, the performance level of ball screw will directly determine the performance of the whole system. Although manufacturing level of domestic ball screw have greatly improved, the level of functional reliability and Accuracy Retention have a big gap with foreign advanced level. So, the basic theory and its test bench of accuracy retention of ball screw mechanism was studied in this issue.First of all, accuracy Loss Model of ball screw mechanism was established based on Archard Adhesive wear model. The relationship of contact deformation and the actual contact angle and wear volume and running speed and running time were studied in the model. Accuracy retention test process was introduced in this paper. It would help to unified the test standard and provide the conditions for the next accuracy retention test.Secondly, the main design requirements and performance indicators of accuracy retention test bench were introduced. A general structure mode of electric loading test bed based on servo motor was introduced. The main design scheme of mechanical structure and the function modules were expounded. The hardware design scheme of the test bench measurement and control system is analyzed. It was found that the system had met the requirements of the test of accuracy retention test. The overall design scheme of the corresponding software of the test system is given. This would provide the conditions for the design and development of test software.Then, according to the ball screw to maintain the accuracy of the test requirements, the paper mainly introduces the design of ball screw helix accuracy measurement system and the friction torque measurement system. It was included that Sensor selection, installation and use method and software design flow, test function implementation method, etc. By choosing a reasonable software architecture, the stability of the test system and the accuracy of data processing were improved.In the end, the results of the test results on the accuracy of the ball screw pairs of different manufacturers were given. The reliability of the measurement results was verified by comparing with the measurement results of the current "JCS-040 laser ball screw pair stroke error measuring instrument". The test results with the theoretical analysis results were compared. It would provide technical means and test methods for further carrying out the research on the theory of keeping accuracy.
