In the fast development of industry, the requirement for compressed gas storage equipment are increasing rapidly. Cylinder manufacturers have been valuing the advanced gas storage unit such as aluminum alloy composite cylinders more significantly which make the improvement rapidly. As the key feature of manufacturing of aluminum alloy composite cylinders is how to point at the improvements of cylinder mouth processing technology and design a special machine tool to make the cylinder mouth part easily, efficiently,reliably and can complete mechanical processing reliably. It is significantly meaningful and valuable.The paper is expanded around the research and development of special machine tool for aluminum alloy composite cylinders, and the main work contains following aspects:(1)Analyze using conditions and development trend of special machine tool for aluminum alloy composite cylinder mouth and cylinder processing technology, and provide reference for research and development direction of special machine tool for aluminum alloy composite cylinder.(2)Based on analysis of processing technology of traditional aluminum alloy composite cylinder mouth, it innovatively changes the processing method that regarding the cutting method, it change turning processing to milling which is to say, the part stays still, while tool completes the main cutting motions and various feeding motions, in order to avoid huge rotational inertia and its influence to cylinder mouth processing due to excessive weight of work-blank parts, unevenness and other adverse factors. It makes corresponding mouth processing method according to the cutting method, selects process criteria and card-loading method, also based on the actual processing method, it designs the special tools for various processes under the premise of ensuring processing accuracy and the principle of merging processing steps and enlarging tool processing flexibility.(3)Calculate maximum boring and milling forces through theoretical derivation according to improved processing plan and actual cutting parameters of aluminum alloy cylinder mouth, in order to lay the foundation for analysis and calculation of parts later.(4)Research and develop special machine tool for aluminum alloy composite cylinder mouth, according to practical production demands of customers, combined with improved processing plan of aluminum alloy cylinder mouth, it involves the choice of whole structure, such as motion allocation of the machine tool, transmission type and determination of whole parameters of the machine tool.(5)Design and develop the spindle system of the special machine tool, combined with the whole structure of the machine tool, it is necessary to determine the driving method, appearance dimensions, bearing support method, bearing pre-tightening method and lubrication method and other basic technical elements. The design of broach mechanism inside the spindle system needs to consider the choice of disc spring sets, parameter calculation, arrangement mode and amendment of broach force.(6)Design and develop tooling fixture system and lubrication system of the machine tool according to the whole structure of the machine tool. In the design of tooling fixture system, it is necessary to determine the structure, the power composition, the clamp force and the power specifications of clamp devices. In the design of lubrication system, it is necessary to determine the lubrication type, composition of system and choice of specific forms according to requirements of transmission system requirement of the machine tool in various directions.(7) Do finite element analysis for spindle parts of the spindle system, get statics analysis and dynamic simulation analysis with ANSYS finite element analysis software, combined with the processing of spindle parts after improvement, loading and support characteristics, in order to make relatively complete theoretical reference for the design of spindle system.While finished manufacturing of the special machine tool for aluminum alloy composite cylinder, all the parameters have met the processing requirements of the customer. Especially, innovative technology application such as replacement of turning processing by milling, side box structure of spindle, independent working table from the main machine structure and high-speed spindle system, can not only make great more flexibility of the whole machine processing, but also insurance of the processing accuracy and higher efficiency.
