The paper studies the operating electrical characteristics of the high impedance EAF. From the point of the electrical operation, the paper shows that the high impedance EAF is superior to the common EAF and also introduces the main technology on modern UHP high-impedance EAF. Based on the analysis of the equivalent circuit of electrical operation, the datas surveyed on steel plant and the method of statistical modeling, the model of nonlinear operating reactances of each voltage is established.Based on the Access and VB, the model of EAF power supply is established, which is conducive to the comparison of power supply curves under different voltage and reactance of electric-arc furnace. Considering of restrictive link at each stage, the principles and strategies of setting up the power supply system are showed. And the problems of selecting work voltage, work reactance and work current are solved effectively.During the last period of smelting, thermal efficiency of EAF depends mainly on the submerging arc in slag.Thermal efficiency would be improved if arc is submerged well. Power supply parameters should be confirmed according to the real condition ofsubmerging arc in slag. In this way, the result of power supply parameters can be reformed. Considering of thermal efficiency, the model of EAF power supply after smelting is established, which provides the theoretical basis of "resistance Shorting" during the last period of smelting.Based on the arrangement of shop for steelmaking, smelting rhythm, the heating capacity of LF and the analysis of original smelting process, suggestions on tapping temperature, power supply, oxygen supply and slagging regime are put forward. Through theoretical analysis and the scene of economic indicator, superiority of the new project is expounded.
