To solve the tedious 3-D modeling of the roadways which is caused by the change of the roadway sections during the mine engineering, this paper propose 3-D modeling algorithm of the roadway sections with characteristic cross section based on the wire-frame model. At first, it elaborates the collection and pre-processing of data, proposing the collection and processing methods of irregular roadway sections. Then, make topological structure analysis of the elements contained in the roadway section. At the same time, in line with the diversity of the roadway section in the mines, establish the characteristic cross section model base, realize the refining analysis of the regular and irregular roadway sections in coordinates, design the discretization algorithm of the corresponding roadway sections, discretize the characteristic cross sections into section points, convert the section points into space coordinates based on the three-dimensional coordinate of the characteristic cross section center, uploading the points onto the control points of the corresponding roadway central line, and propose the smoothing processing algorithm of the changed roadway sections at the corner, making arc processing on the central line of the roadways. Based on the theory of 3-D modeling of the wire-frame model, the 3-D modeling algorithm proposed in this paper creates a triangulation network with triangulation to finish the 3-D modeling of the roadway, increasing the modeling efficiency of the complex roadways.
