| Based on AutoCAD and the viewable interface , a computer aided design system for complex shaped cutter was developed in this thesis . The primary research work is as follows:An unified mathematical model for complex shaped cutter was established. The unified mathematical model for cutter profile contains cylinder, cone, torus , ball and their combination. When some parameters was given ,a specific cutter profile can be obtained from the software developed. The parametrical equation of three kind of edge curves in common use (i.e. equal lead, equal helix angle from the longitude , equal helix angle from the axis) was summed up in the unified model of the edge curves. The design methods for the normal section and cross section were introduced respectively.3D solid model based on cross section was build in AutoCAD through modularization mode and parametric drawing method .When the information of the ending section , edge curve and the cutter profile was input, a 3D entity model for complex shaped cutter will be displayed by the software automatically.The corresponding relationship between the normal section and the cross section was researched and a method was given to transform the normal section into the ending section.The work may contribute to the effective design for the complex shaped cutters. The modeling method based on normal section may be used to other similarly parts .The 3D entity modeling for the complex shaped cutters will be helpful to the virtual CNC grinding of the complex shaped cutters. |
