The Further Study Of Geographical Names Census And Database Building

It has been over 30 years since The First National Geographical names Census,the social and economic structure of our country has undergone tremendous changes,and the change of geographical names is also huge.The data of geographical names is very difficult to reflect the actual situation of geographical names.In order to adapt to the demand of smart city,our country has launched The Second National Geographical Names Census to grasp the status of geographical names fully and establish the database of geographical names.However,there is a variety of methods to complete geographical names census and database establishing,different methods have different demands on manpower,time and other costs.At present,the further research about geographical names census and database building is very few in our country,in order to do the work reasonable,effective and economical,it is very important that analyzing the methods of geographical names census and database-establishing from different angels.This article takes The Second National Geographical Names Census of Beichuan project as an experimental area,and analyzes the basic knowledge of geographical names census,the census includes four key processes of data registering,data surveying,data sorting and database building.According to the characteristics of the traditional methods(conventional data registering,paper-based surveying,all graphic vectorization and manual entry)in each process,and the actual situation of beichuan and the existing technology,this article optimizes and improves the traditional methods,forms new methods(improved data registration,"3S" integrated surveying,updating with reference data and script compiling),analyzes the characteristics of these methods and compares the differences in time,cost,production efficiency,and verifies the feasibility of new methods.Compared with the traditional method,the production time of new methods has been saved by about 50%,the production cost is reduced by about 50%,and the production efficiency is more than doubled,new methods are not only satisfied with the quality of the census,but also rich in the performance of the census,increase the readability of data and make the results table more beautiful.New methods provide a reference for geographical names census more scientific,quicker and more effective.
